Opener

In an effort to curb my actions in sending /forwarding political e-mails to my friends and family who don't appreciate them as much as I do, I have decided to start this blog to both clarify my ideas on truth and justice, life in general, and to have an outlet to try and improve / revive my writing ability.

Who am I? Nobody really. I am small contractor who just started my own business a year ago. I do remodling work and maintenance. Before I started this endeavor I worked for a non-profit in affordable housing for 8 years in Portland OR. , called PCRI. I loved doing my work there and felt it was worth while. I felt I was contributing to something good. Helping to build a community of stable affordable housing. I worked tirelessly there and helped build it into one of the most successful affordable housing non-propfits in Portland.

Now I live in Alaska. I moved up here to be closer to my elderly parents and other family. I grew up here in Alaska and it feels good to return to my roots. I have been married for 16 years and have two trobling and tiresome teenageres, I love them dearly. I am lucky to have a wife who was selfless enough to agree to moving up here. Her family resides in Portland and she misses them greatly. We are adjusting to our new setting more each day and it looks like our life together will continue to improve.

I am a college drop out who majored in English Lit but found it too difficult to return to school after our second child was born. I wanted to continue on to a masters in secondary education. Some day I will at least go back and get my BA. I no longer want to be a teacher though, since they are always having to battle anegative public perceptions propagated by anti-public education activists, mainlly Conservatives and Theocrats. Teachers don't get paid squat for what they do either! What is more important than adequately paying the adults who help raise out children! Why not compenstae them comportably so than concentrate on the job of educating our chilren? I had great teachers as a child a look up to most of them as positive role modles in my life. Even today, I see and hear the respect from my chilren they have for teachers. Being a teacher is one of the most honorable positions one can choose in life. Sure there are a few bad ones, really bad ones - I know I've had them, but the amount of good they do collectively is so much greater than what a few bad apples take away from it.

So, thats just a smiggin of who I am. Mostly though I will not try to not write too much about personal self as I find that kind of narcistic. My main interest are politics, religion, music, fishing, literature and exploring the Alaska outback. I will try and stay with in those peramiters.

Welcome to my blog.
